BoardsCount™ has a special approach. It reports in detail from two perspectives and on 12 topics
The person with the staff responsibility for governance completes a detailed fact-finder on each of the 12 topics. This information is the basis of the data used to compare your organisation with the others who take part.
But BoardsCount™ goes further than comparing facts. All members of the board and the members of the senior management team complete a short opinion based questionnaire with targeted questions on each of the same 12 topics. That way you can not only see how your practices compare with others, you can also see how you (and the others) feel about how things currently are. You can also understand what others feel are the most important challenges.
All participants receive three reports as standard:
Peer Group Option
In addition to the three 'standard' reports, as a participating organisation, you can elect to compare your governance practices and performance with your choice of around 10 or more other participants.
Registered Club Option
Federal or otherwise associated organisations can register for the service as a block - see Pre-register your own club below. There are discounts if you do work with us in this way. In this way, you automatically have the Peer Group Option at no additional cost.
Special Arrangements
We form partnerships with selected organisations so that their members can explore governance issues unique to them or from within a special club. Contact us to find out the lastest.
Non-participants can buy the published Sector Overview Report only. The price of this report is £100 (+VAT).
Clubs for federal or associated organisations
BoardsCount™ can be used more flexibly too. A number of the users of BoardsCount™ are part of a federal structure or are members of a larger association.
In BoardsCount™ 2007, groups including MENCAP, Citizens Advice, The Mental Health Providers' Forum and the National Union of Students helped their members take part by forming a pre-registered club.
These organisations want to compare themselves with the main group, but they also want to see how one member or associated organisation compares with another. In these cases, we have arranged for them to form their own club. So, in addition to the standard three reports, each participant in the club also receives an additional special output comparing their organisation with each of the other club members. To help you, this report is designed into the standard Scorecard Report.
You don't have to be part of an association or large federal structure to take up this option! You can also just come together with a group of organisations that you think you have something to offer and to learn from and we'll help you put a special club together.
If you are already a participant in BoardsCount™ 2007, you can select a group of other participants with whom to compare your organisation.
If you may be interested in forming a pre-registered club, get in touch. You can register your interest now and let us know that you may want to form a club - no obligation and we'll keep you informed. But you can also just get in touch directly and we'll talk it over with you. Contact us.
"It is essential that boards review themselves regularly to identify what they are doing well and areas for improvement. BoardsCount™, developed with support from the Governance Hub, aims to give organisations the opportunity to review and benchmark their performance, based on the Code of Governance.
